My Approach

Actionable Strategy: We move beyond theory to build real-world systems for time management and task initiation.

Clinical Foundation: Every strategy is informed by a deep understanding of executive function and how it impacts learning.

Academic Results: The goal is always the same: ensuring that a student’s hard work is reflected in their performance.

Lasting impact

Many students know the material, but they struggle to demonstrate it. There is often a gap between clinical understanding- knowing why a student is stuck- and academic- knowing how to get them going. I founded my practice to bridge that specific gap. My coaching isn’t just about organizing a backpack, it’s about building the practicalscaffolding that transforms diagnostic clarity into daily momentum. By blending clinical insight with academic strategy. I help students navigate the “what” and “when”of their education, turning cognitive hurdles into consistent, measurable goals. We will use their academic work as the medium to learn and practice these strategies, which provides the student with the satisfaction of getting their work completed in a thorough yet efficient manner.

About Nicole Siminoff, MSW

Executive Functioning Coach & Academic Specialist

With over two decades of experience at the intersection of clinical social work and educational therapy, I help students from kindergarten through university transform their approach to learning. My mission is to bridge the gap between a student’s potential and their performance by building the essential "building blocks of learning."

My Approach

I view executive functioning through a clinical lens. Holding a Masters in Clinical Social Work from NYU and a background in Cognitive Psychology, I don't just help with homework—I identify the underlying "lagging skills" that cause academic friction. Whether a student is navigating dyslexia, ADHD, or the transition to a more demanding grade level, I provide a safe, upbeat environment where they can build both competence and self-esteem.

Clinical Expertise Meets Academic Strategy

My background includes extensive experience in NYC and Marin County schools, working as a psychotherapist, diagnostician for the New York Department of Education, executive functioning therapist, and an academic specialist and tutor. I am proficient in various modalities, including CBT and DBT-informed strategies, which allow me to support clients socially and behaviorally while they master their coursework.

Specialized areas of support include:

  • Executive Functioning: Assessing deficits and developing individualized strategies for organization, time management, and emotional regulation.

  • Specialized Instruction: Level 1 Wilson Reading System, F.A.S.T. Dyslexia training, and "Making Math Real" techniques.

  • Transitional Support: Guiding students through the shifts between elementary, middle, high school, and college.

  • Standardized Testing: Targeted SAT and ACT preparation and writing assessments.

  • Collaborative Advocacy: Mediating between families and schools to ensure student needs are met across all environments.
